Construction of Rainbow-like Structural Color Coatings on Wood Surfaces Based on Polystyrene Microspheres

Polystyrene (PSt) microspheres were used to construct rainbow-like, seven-colored structural color coatings on wood surfaces by analyzing how the amount of emulsifier SDBS and emulsion polymerization temperature affected particle size monodispersity microspheres. The influence both self-assembled coating reflected spectrum was investigated. It found that most monodisperse PSt obtained when using 175 mg a reaction 70 °C. By adjusting these two factors, we regulated When surface form coating, best optical effect with 40.8 × 10−3 mL/cm2 50 °C ambient temperature. Finally, changing temperature, different sizes good prepared. patterned decorations surface, providing technical basis for forming other surfaces.
